Hi everyone… sorry I haven’t been here as often as I’d like, but with Sarah being here in the UK… I have been helping her see the sights of the country. I guess I was under no illusion… unless the eclipse is total, the sun’s burning rays will always lighten the sky: to be truly dark, the sun shouldn’t be there. I guess when the maximum period of the eclipse passed us by it was at 86% covered… all that did was make it seem eerie for about 20 minutes either side of the maximum point that the sun was still shining (not as brightly) and fairly high in the sky only for it to seem like it was a very early dull, overcast start to the day. Unluckily for me, stray clouds got in the way to hide the crescent shape of the moon over the sun… so I got bored and took some pics of the local scenery (even though the smog haze persisted and hung over where I was even at this altitude, being blown inland) and the ponies that are wild and native to the local National Park where I had decided to watch this “event”.

I have been in sunny but a little bit smoggy LA for a few days now… not that I mind much, coming from record lows of New England I don’t wish to repeat in a hurry… it was rather nice to go out for a meal in my tee shirt and shorts whilst I thought about the poor people I had left behind to freeze their asses off (haw haw!)

The 1st of 2 multi site posts for you this weekend period. Just so you know, I have been in America for some time and still can not get used to how cold it is here in New England.
